We primarily raise corn and soybeans along with some wheat. We also have a farrow-to-finish hog operation. I farm with my two brothers. The opportunity to be one of the first trying the Enlist™ system on our farm intrigued us from the start. It’s a simple, effective program that we can use on both our corn and soybeans. It’s always a challenge to manage multiple herbicides, and the Enlist system will help simplify our weed management program.

There are a lot of positives with the Enlist weed control system. I was very pleased with the weed control and the performance of the hybrids available this year. The corn was excellent. I will definitely use Enlist in the future. I’d like to try Enlist soybeans because it will be convenient to use the tank mix in a postapplication on corn and soybeans with minimal or no tank-cleanout issues between fields when we follow the guidelines from Dow AgroSciences. Knowing there won’t be a drift problem also is a relief and a big benefit. With the corn yielding more than 210 bushels per acre, I’m ready to place my order for next year.

The Enlist™ corn yield was impressive

The yield was impressive. So far, it was the best we’ve shelled this year. Plant health was very good. Even in the middle of October, there were a few green leaves in the Enlist™ corn. The tops weren’t broken out, and it was standing well.

Weed control was excellent

The weed control with Enlist Duo^® herbicide was excellent. We’ve always had issues in this field with bindweed and giant ragweed. There were none of these in the field at harvest, even in the places we had standing water. Enlist Duo took those weeds out.

We’re getting close to harvest. Conditions this year have been favorable for the earlier planted corn. We had some ideal rains in August and dry conditions recently to help finish out the corn. Looking forward to harvesting and seeing yields.

Strong yield potential

The Enlist™ field looks really good. The ears have really filled out and look promising. Our yield checks are estimating better than 200 bushels per acre.

Proven performance on my farm

Seeing the results on your own farm with your own practices proves that it works. Seeing the Enlist system firsthand on our farm showed us weed control of the tough, glyphosate-resistant weeds. It gave me confidence in the product.

With the Enlist Duo, we saw no issue with the corn having any effects of the 2,4-D.

With the Enlist Duo, we saw no issue with the corn having any effects of the 2,4-D. You could see the ragweed completely turnover within hours after application. When you’re worried about glyphosate-resistant weeds, the Enlist system gives you another tool to combat those issues.

The Enlist corn is just about 4 inches tall, and we will start scouting for weeds this week. The cool nights a week ago slowed growth. But we received a half inch of rain on Tuesday, and the warm weather this week has really greened up the corn, and it looks good.

We’re starting to see tough-to-control and resistant weeds in our area. On our farm, we started to have some trouble with marestail last year. We’re also starting to see problems with ragweed on the corn-on-corn acres. To stay ahead of the weed problems, we use crop rotation and incorporate multiple modes of action with burndown, preemergence and postemergence herbicides.
