Experiencing Enlist

Keith Kenny

I raise corn, soybeans and cattle on our family farm. We’re starting to see some tough weeds, including ragweed and waterhemp on our farm. We’re looking for a new option to control the glyphosate-resistant weeds. The Enlist™ system looks like it will be a simple, effective option for weed control, and I’m looking forward to seeing it on my farm.

In our area, weeds, and especially waterhemp, have been hard to control with glyphosate. We used the Enlist system for soybeans on a field with heavy waterhemp and a problem area that used to be cow pasture. Enlist Duo absolutely controlled the weeds. My neighbors and local ag retailer were very impressed with the weed control we had in our soybeans. They can’t wait to use it.  I believe the Enlist system is a good option.

You end up with a clean field

The soybeans looked really good all year, and they yielded well for being planted in June. Enlist Duo® controls the weeds that you target. The 2,4-D choline works right away, so you see results right away. Most importantly, you end up with a clean field.

Enlist™ soybeans continue to thrive

Farmers are very used to using 2,4-D, and we have a lot of confidence in what it will do. It’s just something we’ve never been able to use on our beans because of drift or what it would do to your soybean crop. Being able to use Enlist Duo on our beans is huge.

With Enlist Duo, you can feel confident about spraying and the product staying on target. It also controls the tough weeds. I’ve had problems controlling waterhemp for a couple of years and Enlist Duo controlled them completely. I was very happy with the weed control I got from Enlist Duo.

Enlist Duo® herbicide leaves straight line where applied

When the Enlist soybeans were sprayed, my neighbor was running the sprayer. We were both nervous about spraying a 2,4-D product on beans. I was concerned it may hurt the beans, and he was concerned about drift.

We were both happy to see absolutely no drift at all. Right along the edge of the field there was a weedy strip, and it just left a straight line right where he sprayed. I was pleased to see it did not affect the Enlist beans at all. They did not yellow, change color or wilt. They just kept growing.

The application of Enlist Duo went very well.

The application of Enlist Duo went very well. There was no problem with drift. It landed right where it was sprayed.

Monitor shows planting is running smoothly

We planted our Enlist™ soybeans after lunch yesterday. It was still a little wet during planting, but we are happy to have the field planted because it rained again today. The weather has been warming up, providing good growing conditions.

Cool, wet field conditions

The fields are worked and ready to be planted with Enlist soybeans. However, the weather has been a bit cool and field conditions are wet. So, we’ve been doing some preparation for planting and waiting for dry conditions.

Even with the wet, cool conditions, we’re feeling fine on timing. In fact, we’re glad that we don’t have the soybeans planted as the weatherman is predicting 32 degrees tonight. That’s too cool for beans, if they’ve already emerged.
