Apply Enlist herbicides with confidence

Successful use of Enlist herbicides begins with proper application. Review this application guide before you spray. You can also download the PDF version of this guide. Review the label for full application requirements.

Before spraying Application instructions

BEFORE SPRAYING

1. APPLICATION WINDOW

Step1Apply Enlist herbicides within the appropriate growth stage windows.
Enlist cotton: Up to midbloom stage
Enlist soybean: No later than R2 or full flowering stage
Enlist corn: No larger than V8 growth stage or 30” tall, whichever happens first

2. TANK-MIX PARTNERS

Step2Only tank-mix Enlist Duo® and Enlist One herbicides with qualified tank-mix partners. Find them at EnlistTankMix.com.

3. NOZZLES

Step3Use only nozzle and pressure combinations listed on the product labels of Enlist herbicides.

Watch the nozzle selection video for additional tips and steps to calibrate your nozzles.

4. WIND SPEED, WEATHER

Step4Wind speed: Apply Enlist herbicides when the wind speed is between 3 and 10 mph.
Avoid: Do not apply at wind speeds greater than 15 mph.
Consult: Some states have additional restrictions on wind speed. Check your state regulations on wind speed.

Temperature inversions: Do not spray during a temperature inversion. Watch this video to better understand temperature inversions and how to ensure on-target application.
Caution: Inversions are more common between dusk and dawn.

5. SUSCEPTIBLE CROPS

Step5

Spray when wind is blowing away from susceptible crops listed on the Enlist herbicide labels. This includes: tomatoes, fruiting vegetables, cucurbits, grapes, cotton without the Enlist trait and tobacco.
Note: There is no acceptable buffer distance when the wind is blowing toward a susceptible crop. Do not spray if wind is blowing toward a susceptible crop.

6. SENSITIVE AREA

Step6

Maintain a 30-foot downwind buffer from areas that have been identified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as potential habitats and locations of protected species (e.g., woods, pastures, grass ditches and lawns). For full details, see product label.

7. SPRAYER CONTAMINATION

Step7

Clean your sprayer before using Enlist herbicides to avoid contamination from a prior application.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

8. SPRAY PRESSURE

Step8Use an appropriate spray pressure based on product label requirements and conditions. Ground speed, product volume and nozzle selection all factor into the appropriate spray pressure.

9. SPRAY RATE

Step9

Use spray rates from the product label when weeds are shorter than 6” and crops are within the appropriate growth stage window.
Enlist Duo: Spray 4.75 pints per acre in all fields with glyphosate-resistant or hard-to-control weeds.
Enlist One: Spray 2 pints per acre in all fields with glyphosate-resistant or hard-to-control weeds.

10. SPRAY VOLUME

Step10

Use a spray volume of water ranging from 10 to 15 gallons per acre for ground equipment and apply with calibrated ground equipment.

11. BOOM HEIGHT

Step11

To minimize spray drift potential, maintain a boom height of 24 inches or less above crop canopy.

12. CLEANOUT

Step12After applying an Enlist herbicide, follow the proper steps to clean out your sprayer. Triple rinse is required for all cleanouts, unless the next crop you are spraying is glyphosate-resistant corn.

Download the Sprayer cleanout guide or watch the sprayer cleanout video for more information.
